09:30 - 10:30 Campus Library, Level 3, Room 3118, Seaside

The talk will focus on specific approach to performance-oriented architecture and a related method framework termed information-based computational design, which operates at the intersection between architecture, geometry, engineering, computer and environmental science.

‚ÄčThe talk will focus on specific approach to performance-oriented architecture and a related method framework termed information-based computational design, which operates at the intersection between architecture, geometry, engineering, computer and environmental science. This entails a multi-domain and multi-scalar approach to advancing architectural design with particular focus on four domains of agency: (1) the local physical environment, (2) the local biological environment, and, (3+4) the spatial and material organization complex that constitutes architecture and the built environment. Furthermore, this entails the geometric and material articulations of architectures and frequently an element of symmetry-breaking to respond effectively to local conditions and circumstances. A range of projects and research undertakings will be presented that are characteristic for our work in practice, research and architectural education and that aim to address today's increasing complexity of design and sustainability requirements.
